23 I pray that God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will give peace and love with faith to all the brothers and sisters there.
24 God’s grace to all of you who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love that never ends.

Catholic Reading 1, Second Corinthians 9:6-10
6 But remember: anyone who sows sparsely will reap sparsely as well — and anyone who sows generously will reap generously as well.
7 Each one should give as much as he has decided on his own initiative, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
8 God is perfectly able to enrich you with every grace, so that you always have enough for every conceivable need, and your resources overflow in all kinds of good work.
9 As scripture says: To the needy he gave without stint, his uprightness stands firm for ever.
10 The one who so freely provides seed for the sower and food to eat will provide you with ample store of seed for sowing and make the harvest of your uprightness a bigger one:
Responsorial Psalm, Psalms 112:1-2, 5-6, 7-8, 9
1 Alleluia! How blessed is anyone who fears Yahweh, who delights in his commandments!
2 His descendants shall be powerful on earth, the race of the honest shall receive blessings:
5 All goes well for one who lends generously, who is honest in all his dealing;
6 for all time to come he will not stumble, for all time to come the upright will be remembered.
7 Bad news holds no fears for him, firm is his heart, trusting in Yahweh.
8 His heart held steady, he has no fears, till he can gloat over his enemies.
9 To the needy he gives without stint, his uprightness stands firm for ever; his reputation is founded on strength.
Gospel, John 12:24-26
24 In all truth I tell you, unless a wheat grain falls into the earth and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies it yields a rich harvest.
25 Anyone who loves his life loses it; anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
26 Whoever serves me, must follow me, and my servant will be with me wherever I am. If anyone serves me, my Father will honour him.
Today’s Scriptures: Julie Green
- Genesis 1:3, 6, 9 11, 14, 16, 20, 24, 26-28
3 Then God said, “Let there be light!” And light began to shine.[b]
6 Then God said, “Let there be a space[c] to separate the water into two parts!”
9 Then God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered together so that the dry land will appear.” And it happened.
11 Then God said, “Let the earth grow grass, plants that make grain, and fruit trees. The fruit trees will make fruit with seeds in it. And each plant will make its own kind of seed. Let these plants grow on the earth.” And it happened.
11 Then God said, “Let the earth grow grass, plants that make grain, and fruit trees. The fruit trees will make fruit with seeds in it. And each plant will make its own kind of seed. Let these plants grow on the earth.” And it happened.
16 So God made the two large lights. He made the larger light to rule during the day and the smaller light to rule during the night. He also made the stars.
20 Then God said, “Let the water be filled with many living things, and let there be birds to fly in the air over the earth.”
24 Then God said, “Let the earth produce many kinds of living things. Let there be many different kinds of animals. Let there be large animals and small crawling animals of every kind. And let all these animals produce more animals.” And all these things happened.
26 Then God said, “Now let’s make humans[f] who will be like us.[g] They will rule over all the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. They will rule over all the large animals and all the little things that crawl on the earth.”
27 So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself.[h] He created them male and female. 28 God blessed them and said to them, “Have many children. Fill the earth and take control of it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the air. Rule over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
- Deuteronomy 30:19
21 You might be thinking, ‘How can we know if something a prophet says is not from the Lord?’ - Proverbs 18:21
21 The tongue can speak words that bring life or death. Those who love to talk must be ready to accept what it brings. - Job 6:23-25
23 No, and I never said, ‘Save me from my enemies!’
or ‘Save me from those who are cruel!’
24 “So now, teach me, and I will be quiet.
Show me what I have done wrong.
25 Honest words are powerful,
but your arguments prove nothing. - Matthew 12:36-37
36 I tell you that everyone will have to answer for all the careless things they have said. This will happen on the day of judgment. 37 Your words will be used to judge you. What you have said will show whether you are right or whether you are guilty.” - Matthew 4:4
4 Jesus answered him, “The Scriptures say,
‘It is not just bread that keeps people alive.
Their lives depend on what God says.’” - Hebrews 4:12
12 God’s word[c] is alive and working. It is sharper than the sharpest sword and cuts all the way into us. It cuts deep to the place where the soul and the spirit are joined. God’s word cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. It judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts. - Mark 11:23-24
23 The truth is, you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, mountain, fall into the sea.’ And if you have no doubts in your mind and believe that what you say will happen, then God will do it for you. 24 So I tell you to ask for what you want in prayer. And if you believe that you have received those things, then they will be yours. - Ephesians 6:12 (10-18)
12 Our fight is not against people on earth. We are fighting against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness. We are fighting against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places. - Ephesians 6:10
10 To end my letter I tell you, be strong in the Lord and in his great power.
Power & authority of our words;
Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 16, 20, 24, 26 – God spoke… words create… Through Jesus, God gave us power to create. Power, Authority, Dominion -Genesis 1:27
Deuteronomy 30:19 -we have the power to choose. Choose life. Speak it & Believe it.
Proverbs 18:21 Life & Death in the power of the tongue
Job 6:23-25 How forceable are right words
Matthew 12:36-37 judged on our words. By your words either justified or acquitted. Speak life. Don’t own/proclaim the bondage.
Matthew 4:4 Jesus says to speak the words of God. They are our weapon.
Hebrews 4:12 God’s word is living, powerful, a weapon we need to use.
Look at God’s marching orders and do them. Hear, obey, and follow through with belief and action.
Awesome and much needed teaching Julie…People blame God when prayers don’t come to pass. It’s in our words as you have said. SO IMPORTANT. We sabotage ourselves sometimes from receiving blessing because our words cancel them. HELP US JESUS. Psalm 141:3 -” Put a guard over the door of my lips” Ask Him to do that and be sensitive to Holy Spirit’s restraint when you are talking to someone. (Especially when they are attacking you and provoking you to anger. The adversary is trying to get you to say the wrong thing or cause you to sin in anger or unforgiveness. This I have learned the HARD way. 🙂
