Tobit 10
Why is Tobit shown with the King James Bible?
2 Then Tobit said, Are they detained? or is Gabael dead, and there is no man to give him the money?
3 Therefore he was very sorry.
5 Now I care for nothing, my son, since I have let thee go, the light of mine eyes.
6 To whom Tobit said, Hold thy peace, take no care, for he is safe.
9 But Tobias said, No; but let me go to my father.
Tobit 11
2 Then Raphael said to Tobias, Thou knowest, brother, how thou didst leave thy father:
3 Let us haste before thy wife, and prepare the house.
4 And take in thine hand the gall of the fish. So they went their way, and the dog went after them.
5 Now Anna sat looking about toward the way for her son.
7 Then said Raphael, I know, Tobias, that thy father will open his eyes.
10 Tobit also went forth toward the door, and stumbled: but his son ran unto him,
12 And when his eyes began to smart, he rubbed them;
18 And Achiacharus, and Nasbas his brother’s son, came:
19 And Tobias’ wedding was kept seven days with great joy.
Tobit 12
4 Then the old man said, It is due unto him.
10 But they that sin are enemies to their own life.
14 And now God hath sent me to heal thee and Sara thy daughter in law.
16 Then they were both troubled, and fell upon their faces: for they feared.
17 But he said unto them, Fear not, for it shall go well with you; praise God therefore.
18 For not of any favour of mine, but by the will of our God I came; wherefore praise him for ever.
19 All these days I did appear unto you; but I did neither eat nor drink, but ye did see a vision.
21 And when they arose, they saw him no more.
Tobit 13
3 Confess him before the Gentiles, ye children of Israel: for he hath scattered us among them.
8 Let all men speak, and let all praise him for his righteousness.
12 Cursed are all they which hate thee, and blessed shall all be which love thee for ever.
15 Let my soul bless God the great King.
17 And the streets of Jerusalem shall be paved with beryl and carbuncle and stones of Ophir.
Tobit 14
1 So Tobit made an end of praising God.
6 And all nations shall turn, and fear the Lord God truly, and shall bury their idols.
14 And he died at Ecbatane in Media, being an hundred and seven and twenty years old.
New Testament reading for today:
Matthew 20: 17-28
17 Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them,
18 “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death
19 and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”
A Mother’s Request
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him.
21 “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”
22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?”“We can,” they answered.
23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”
24 When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers.
25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—
28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Acts 18:23-28
23After spending some time there he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia and Phryg’ia, strengthening all the disciples.24Now a Jew named Apol’los, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the scriptures.25He had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aq’uila heard him, they took him and expounded to him the way of God more accurately.27And when he wished to cross to Acha’ia, the brethren encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed,28for he powerfully confuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.
Psalms 47:2-3, 8-10
1Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!2For the LORD, the Most High, is terrible, a great king over all the earth.7For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm!8God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.9The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted!
Gospel
John 16:23-28
23In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name.24Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.25″I have said this to you in figures; the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures but tell you plainly of the Father.26In that day you will ask in my name; and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;27for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from the Father.28I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”

Reflection Prayer,
Lord, the answer is “Yes.” I choose Your will today, tomorrow and always. I choose nothing but Your will. As I say “Yes” to You, help me to grow in greater clarity of all You ask of me. Jesus, I trust in You.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried,
He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty, from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
(this prayer is optional and may be said after all Glory Be to the Fathers…..)
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell.
Lead all souls to heaven, especially those who are in most need of thy mercy.
Console the souls in Purgatory, particularly those most abandoned. Amen
Hail Mary,
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Hail, Holy Queen
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
That we maybe made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Closing Prayer
O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal salvation.
Grant, we beseech Thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
that we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
(The Fatima Prayer:)
Most Holy Trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – I adore thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference’s whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.
Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
